Many people have difficulty initiating and/or maintaining an exercise routine. This
workshop will start with a review of the health benefits of regular exercise and the
impact of exercise on mood based on up-to-date research. There will be a focus on
ways in which our thinking and behavior can interfere with participation in regular
exercise. Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) offers a number of readily
implementable strategies that can be used to start and sustain increased physical
activity. Strategies reviewed are applicable to all able-bodied individuals, regardless
of current level of physical activity.
